THE JOB OF THE FUTURE

In the past few years there’s been a steady incline of people whom would prefer working online than those traditional jobs. There is a wide variety of work you can choose from and these are Online English Tutor, Virtual Assistant, Freelance jobs like Graphic Design and in such areas, Social Media Manager and Marketing, and so on. Working online is much more convenient for a couple of reasons.

First of all, you’ll save a lot of money in regards with your commute, eating out, and buying items that you don’t need.

Second, you can work anywhere you like as a freelance/virtual assistant. You can work in your home, in a coffee shop, on the beach, nationally, internationally, and etc. as long as you got your laptop and a steady internet with you then you are good to go.

Third, you don’t have to worry about buying clothes to wear or worrying about what to wear because you can put whatever clothes you want.

Fourth, the work environment won’t be that stressful unlike working in an office because you won’t have to interact with different people all the time.

Fifth, you can focus more on your work. Although it takes a very strong will-power to avoid getting the remote and watching telly, or browsing the internet, you’ll soon learn how to avoid these and just focus on work more.

Sixth, this type of work can make you become more independent. Working at home without a direct supervision from a manager or subordinate, you tend to learn everything by yourself. You tend to research, study, understand, and do your work independently. Seventh, you’ll have a healthier lifestyle. Unlike having a traditional job which obliges you to wake up early, eat fast food or unhealthy meals in between work,  leaving your office late at night, and pushing your body to wake up early again thus leading to a never ending cycle of an unhealthy lifestyle. Working from home won’t require these things because you’ll have an extra time each day to catch up with some z’s, spend your time exercising, meditating, reading, or cooking a hearty meal. This extra time will add to your overall physical and mental wellness.

Eight, there’s no need to commute. Working as a virtual assistant, you won’t have to travel to and fro from the office so you can probably save around 15 - 25% of your income that use to pay for your commute.

Ninth, you can balance your work and personal life. Many professionals struggle to cope with their busy schedule at work thus this would lead to them having no or little social life but with online jobs now available they can easily work this out.

Last but not the least, there is greater flexibility not only on your working hours but also on your schedule, your environment, lighting, temperature, setting, mood; basically work in the framework that suits you best and makes you happiest and most productive. A flexible schedule is what entices many people to convert to an online job. With this advantage it’s no wonder that online jobs are the jobs of the future.

THE DISADVANTAGES OF WORKING FROM HOME/FREELANCER

There are a couple of disadvantages in working from home.

First is isolation. Of course solitude is nice when working because you can focus on your work but there are times that it gets quite lonely because you don’t have any co-workers to socialize with.

Second, distractions. There’s going to be a lot of distraction working in your home this can be interruption from your friends, children, neighbors, and etc., so you have to address this issue with your friends and family and let them know that under these time and dates they shouldn’t interrupt you.

Third, there is less ad hoc learning. Working in the office you tend to constantly learn new things and information from your co-workers and your supervisors. When you work from home, you are not given these benefits so you have to find ways to seek out networking and learning opportunities on your own.

Fourth, relationships are harder to form because of isolation and it’s hard to build rapport with clients or colleagues when you don’t have a face-to-face connection.

Lastly, you need to discipline yourself. It takes a lot of dedication, self-control, and motivation to persevere in working at home alone over the long run without getting distracted.
